The 115-year rainfall record was broken in occupied Jammu and Kashmir; 40 people were killed.

The Meteorological Department of occupied Jammu and Kashmir said that 380 mm of rainfall was recorded in Jammu in 24 hours; the death toll due to cloudbursts and heavy rains has crossed 40.

Weather forecasters say that several settlements in Pirkho and Niki Tawi were flooded, a dangerous situation has arisen due to severe flooding in the Chenab River, and schools and colleges have been closed in Jammu, Srinagar, Shopian, Kulgam, and Anantnag.

On the other hand, offices have also been temporarily closed, citizens have been instructed to avoid unnecessary movement, heavy rains have also damaged infrastructure, and many roads are closed.

In addition, rescue and relief teams have been dispatched to the affected areas. More rains are forecast, and the Meteorological Department has issued an alert.
