The bodies of retired Pakistan Army Colonel Ishaq Qazi and his daughter, who were swept away in a flood in a private housing society in Islamabad, were recovered from the Swan River three days later.

During the recent heavy rains, Colonel (retd) Ishaq had left home with his daughter when their car broke down on the road. At the same time, a sudden flood swept away their car and both the father and daughter were swept away in the water. A continuous search operation was underway by rescue agencies since the incident.

A large-scale rescue operation involving Rescue 1122, the CDA, PDMA, divers, and army personnel was launched immediately. Search efforts have been ongoing for several days. After searching for 3 days in the storm drain of the private housing society, rescue teams also started search operations on the entrance and exit routes of the Swan River.

The teams had found the bumper and side mirrors of the car yesterday, however, the rest of the car is still missing. Now, rescue officials have confirmed that the bodies of Colonel (retd) Ishaq Qazi and his daughter were recovered from the same spot near the bridge of the Swan River. Recent rainfalls have caused devastating effects on the people of Pakistan. There were multiple casualties in these ongoing rainfalls.

Rescue teams say that both their bodies had come to a stop while floating in the water at the same spot.

It should be noted that early on Monday morning, retired Pakistan Army Colonel Ishaq Qazi was going to drop his daughter at the gate of the society when, unfortunately, his car got stuck in the rainwater, which he tried to start when a torrential downpour reached it. The flow of water increased, due to which both the father and daughter were swept away in the storm drain. The floodwaters carried the car towards the drain of Phase Five of the society and as soon as they saw it, the father and daughter disappeared from sight along with the car.
