Shireen Mazari’s daughter Iman Mazari has claimed that the banned BLA terrorist who was killed in a clash with security forces was a victim of state violence. On this, defense analyst Faran Jafri said that he was also detained for five days during the Imran Khan era, but he did not become a part of any terrorist group.

In one of her tweets, Iman Mazari said, “Do you know that Sufyan was among the students who headed to Islamabad in the Long March of 2023 and was subjected to severe violence, arrest, and torture? According to the BLA spokesperson himself (whose information is available on social media), Sufyan joined the BLA in 2024.”

He added, “The state’s consistent response to peaceful Baloch voices that only demand dialogue and inclusion is inhumane treatment, indifference, and unnecessary crackdown/violence. This path has been paved by the state itself. The sooner this reality is acknowledged, the better.”

Responding to his tweet, defense analyst Faran Jafri said, “I was also detained for five days during a visit to Pakistan during the Imran Khan regime. Your mother was part of that government and the Federal Minister for Human Rights. She didn’t say a word to me. And although Imran Khan’s people didn’t physically torture me (they never dared), they were sent specifically from Islamabad for me, and all this was extremely difficult mentally. It also affected the mental health of my then Pakistani girlfriend. But listen, I still didn’t join any terrorist organization. All my positions are the same today.”

“There can be no justification for joining a terrorist organization and opening fire on a passenger bus on a highway, and that is what the person you are defending did,” Faran Jafri added.
