Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir

Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir paid an official visit to China, where he held a series of meetings with China’s top political and military leadership, in which the commitment to an ironclad strategic partnership between Pakistan and China was reaffirmed.

According to the Public Relations Department of the Pakistan Army, the Field Marshal met with Vice President of the People’s Republic of China Han Zheng and Foreign Minister Wang Yi. In these meetings, the changing political landscape in the region and globally, connectivity initiatives under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, and the need for a coordinated response to address common geopolitical challenges were discussed.

The Chinese leadership appreciated the role of the Pakistani armed forces, describing them as a guarantor of peace and a symbol of stability in the region.

According to the ISPR, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir met with General Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of China, General Chen Hui, Political Commissar of the People’s Liberation Army, and Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Kai Zai Jin.

The Pakistan Army’s Public Relations Department said that the meetings held comprehensive discussions on defense and security cooperation, including important issues such as counter-terrorism cooperation, joint training, modernization of the defense sector, and promoting institutional linkages.

Both sides emphasized improving operational coordination and strategic coordination to effectively counter hybrid and cross-border threats. The Chinese military leadership expressed full confidence in the strength of the bilateral defense partnership and recognized Pakistan’s key role in promoting regional peace.

According to the ISPR, Field Marshal Asim Munir thanked China for its continued support and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to further expand Pak-China military cooperation in all fields.
