The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced financial assistance for the victims of the Tirah valley incident, saying that the families of the martyred citizens will be given Rs 1 crore each, while the injured will be given Rs 2.5 million each.
Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur and the provincial government have expressed deep grief and sorrow over the Tirah valley incident. The government has expressed full sympathy with the deceased and injured and said that a Peshawar jirga consisting of tribal elders and public representatives has been convened to understand the public sentiments and listen to local concerns.
The district administration and relevant institutions have been instructed to further strengthen public communication and ensure law and order in the area at all costs.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has reiterated its resolve that it is working with all seriousness to promote sustainable peace, public security and mutual respect. Officials say that detailed deliberations were held in the All Parties Conference to resolve and prevent such incidents, and now, in light of these suggestions, a series of tribal elders and elders’ jirgas will be started at the divisional and then provincial levels from next week.
It should be noted that this sad incident occurred when local citizens were peacefully protesting in front of the brigade headquarters in Bagh Maidan in favor of their legitimate demands, when the Khawarij took advantage of the opportunity and opened indiscriminate fire on the protesting public from nearby mountains, as a result of which three innocent citizens were martyred and nine were seriously injured.
