184 gambling and betting websites and apps blocked in Pakistan

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has blocked 184 gambling and betting websites and apps across the country.

A written reply presented by the Cabinet Division in the National Assembly session revealed that the PTA has blocked several gambling and betting websites and mobile applications in the country, while taking action against those involved in these activities is beyond the jurisdiction of the PTA.

According to ARY News, the reply further stated that all institutions across the country have been instructed not to enter into agreements with any company or platform that is involved in gambling or betting.

The Cabinet Division admitted that the PTA’s powers to completely eliminate or block illegal online content are limited, and there is a need for legislation and cooperation between relevant institutions in this regard.
