Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the Ministry of Climate Change has brought global funds for areas affected by floods and other disasters, measures to address climate change challenges are the need of the hour.

According to ‘Geo News’, after meeting with Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Gulbar Khan, while addressing a review meeting on floods in Gilgit-Baltistan, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that he has come to GB to review the damage caused by floods and cloudbursts.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that he is very sorry for the loss of life and property due to the flood situation and is in full contact with the Gilgit-Baltistan government in this regard. Our share in global carbon emissions is very low, but despite this, Pakistan is among the countries severely affected by climate change. Floods wreaked havoc in Pakistan in 2022 as well, we are being affected by climate change every year.

Shahbaz Sharif said that measures to address the challenges of climate change are the need of the hour. The Ministry of Climate Change has brought global funds for areas affected by floods and other disasters. Clear instructions have been issued to the Ministry of Climate Change. Despite the participation of representatives of the ministry in several international conferences, the funds are not coming.

Earlier, upon his arrival in Gilgit, Chief Minister Gulbar Khan and Governor GB Syed Mehdi Shah welcomed Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
