The spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General told the media in New York that 600,000 US dollars in aid has been released from the UN Emergency Relief Fund for the flood victims of Pakistan.
The spokesperson said that in the last 10 days, 400 people have died and more than 190 have been injured in Pakistan due to rains and floods, while more than 20,000 people have been displaced.
According to the spokesperson, the flood victims are in urgent need of shelters, cash assistance for medical assistance; the flood victims are in dire need of hygiene supplies, clean drinking water, and measures to protect women and girls in particular are in dire need.
The spokesperson further said that the ongoing monsoon rains and floods in Pakistan since June 26 have caused a lot of devastation. According to local authorities, 798 people have died so far and more than 1,000 have been injured.
