US President Donald Trump has imposed an additional 25% tariff on India, bringing the total US tariff on India to 50%.

The White House spokesman said that US President Trump has issued an executive order for an additional 25% tariff on India.

Under the executive order, an additional 25% import tax has been imposed on imports from India. This measure has been taken in response to India’s continued purchase of Russian oil.

Under the executive order, imports of Russian oil will be regularly monitored, the purpose of which is to determine whether a country is directly or indirectly importing oil from the Russian Federation. If a country is doing so, the Secretary of State, in consultation with other relevant authorities, will recommend to the President whether any action should be taken against that country.

The executive order authorizes the Secretary of State to issue rules and regulations to implement the order, and all federal departments will cooperate in implementing the order.

It should be noted that a day earlier, US President Donald Trump had announced additional import tariffs against India in the next 24 hours. In his statement, he had said that the 25% tariff imposed on India would be further increased.

President Trump said that India has not proven to be a good trading partner, as it is still buying crude oil from Russia, which is indirectly equivalent to providing energy to the ongoing military operations in Ukraine.
